Stonington Public Library patrons can access local and statewide catalogs; over 100,000 ebooks, audiobooks, and streaming movies and series; and online databases, references, and research tools. Online resources are available 24/7/365.

MILS is a shared library system that brings together small libraries of all types from across the state. It compiles the catalogs of all member libraries, and SPL patrons can freely browse and request materials from all participating libraries.

There are 30 participating libraries and over 250,000 unique titles. Patrons can login with their library card barcode and PIN to access features like requests, renewals, reading lists, and more.

CloudLibrary is shared between over 200 libraries. You can access titles using a smartphone, tablet, or computer. Users of the system can check out up to 3 books at a time with a loan period of 21 days.

There are 29,000+ ebook and audiobook titles in the Maine state CloudLibrary collection. CloudLibrary app is available on most smartphones and tablets. Login with your patron barcode.ds

Free digital access to The New York Times made possible by a cooperative purchase of Hancock County libraries. Access to NYT news is available on library Wi-Fi. To access offsite or to access Games, Cooking, Wirecutter, or The Athletic, click the button below for 24 hour access. You will be required to setup a NYT account.

The subscription is a cooperative purchase made by Bass Harbor Memorial Library, Blue Hill Public Library, Buck Memorial Library (Bucksport), Ellsworth Public Library, Friend Memorial Library (Brooklin), Jesup Memorial Library (Bar Harbor), Northeast Harbor Library, Southwest Harbor Public Library, Stonington Public Library, Winter Harbor Public Library, and Witherle Memorial Library (Castine).

Kanopy is a video-streaming platform dedicated to thoughtful and thought-provoking films. Kanopy delivers a diverse collection of enriching films, series, and children’s programming, available to stream anytime and anywhere—from desktop to TV to tablet. With an ideal platform for showcasing independent films that fuels lifelong learning, Kanopy is on a mission to ensure that everyone has access to enriching films that bridge cultural boundaries, spark discussion, and expand worldviews.

Kanopy’s collection includes over 32,000 feature films, documentaries, shorts, and television series. Kanopy app is available for most smartphones, tablets and smart TVs. Setup an account with your preferred email and address on your first visit to access all that Kanopy offers.

Comics Plus offers digital comics, graphic novels and manga for all ages. You can access titles using a smartphone, tablet, or computer, and comics can be downloaded to multiple devices. There is never a wait to read! All items are available at all times to everyone.

Patrons have 24/7 access to all 20,000+ titles on Comics Plus with no holds, no wait lists, and no borrowing limits. Read what you want when you want. Setup an account on your initial visit for unlimited access.

Digital Maine Library provides every resident of Maine with access to online resources that include a collection of full text articles and abstracts from magazines, newspapers, journals and reference. It also provides students, business people, public library patrons, and higher education students and educators the ability to use online learning tools.

Digital Maine Library is free to Maine residents and most resources can be accessed from a Maine IP address anytime. Ancestry.com access is limited to use on a participating library’s Wi-Fi network.

MaineCat is a statewide catalog that combines and links library collections contained in 7 large online library systems, including MILS. Search MaineCat by title, keyword(s), or author for results from all across the state. Most items are available to request.

MaineCat displays over 100 library collections ranging from Maine State Library and research collections to rural libraries. There are 4.6 million unique titles, and patrons can request AVAILABLE items by clicking on Request This Item and filling in the online form.

Maine Reciprocal Borrowing Program expands on Maine’s interlibrary loan service to allow patrons from participating libraries to visit other libraries in the program and check out books in person. Stonington Public Library patrons can visit any one of the 60+ participating libraries and check out materials with an SPL card. Stonington patrons must be in good standing with an up-to-date library card and no outstanding fees or fines. Check out the patron FAQs for more information about how the program works.
